Evita Bezuidenhout and the Kaktus of Separate Development

58
20 June 2017 to 1 July 2017

evita bezuidenhoutStarting as the first show at Evita se Perron in Darling in 1995, it now makes a return to the stage so that its audiences can celebrate stories of survival.

The show confronts a controversial issue in our democracy; the real history of South Africa and the right to laugh at it. Assisted by visual aids reflecting a familiar terrain of history, from the arrival of a small Dutch ship called the Drommedaris to the coronation of a former political prisoner called Madiba, Evita takes her audience on a journey from 1652 to 1994, and right up to the headlines of today.

  1. Always been on my bucket list to see Evita Bezuidenhout. I would be happy to sleep out in the West coast in order to attend this spectacular show Thank you Hanifa

  2. The” Darling” of Darling will again be in full swing not holding back anything. I would appreciate if I can go.
    Thanks in anticipation.

  3. “Tannie Evita Praat Kaktus” was the longest running show in South Africa and now it has a challenger “Kaktus of Separate Development”.

I saw “Praat kaktus” in 1995 so I hope I can be there at the start of Tannie Evita’s new journey as she “exposes the lies and the fantasies” of this wonderfully complex society we fondly call South Africa

  4. i have had a very long and complex love affair with this wonderful man / women. I true gem that has made the various issues we have in South Africa so much more bearable. I would love to see the show.

  8. I am convinced that Evita is my mother. The hair, the legs, the style …..it is all me. This could be my moment to reunite with my long last mom.

  9. Pauline Trelaney

The most famous white woman in South Africa …? I think Helen is wearing that broken crown for the moment ……… may be Evita can fix all our political woes ……or at the very least have us laughing.

  10. Tracy Saxenburg

he helped us laugh through the tough times …….. well they are back again and I for one need a good laugh

I have seen every show since he started out in the 80s and was privileged enough to have him give us a lecture on satire in our Afrikaans course at Rhodes in 1982. Long live Pieter Dirk Uys.

  13. Glynnis Breytenbach

Love PD saw all his opening nights at the “Sterrewag” in Bloenfontein. Very big fan. Now have 2 sons who i would love to introduce to his work. Simply the very best.😚😚😚

    • Myra van Zyl. 0837153376 We simply love Evita and have enjoyed many laughs over the years. Would love to see another show.

  14. I’d love a chance for my mom to get to see her show. We recently went on a road trip to West Coast, stopped at Darling, and she was dying to see Evita perform. Unfortunately timing didn’t work out. But I’d promised to get her a ticket to see the show in CPT. So this would be wonderful.
