The annual Out the Box Festival of Puppetry offers a special selection of experiences for children, with interactive and artistic workshops and local and international performances. So far we’ve seen:
Benji & The Aliens – a one woman / 7 puppet show. Great fun for all ages and it’ll inspire you to take a second look through your rubbish.
The Whale Show – a South African production from the Jungle Theatre Co. Informative, with music, juggling and audience participation. Tries a little too hard to cram in the facts, but nonetheless very enjoyable.
Sand Boy – Argentinian one-man show, mimed to music. Charming, but my 5 year old fell asleep.
NB – Seriously recommend picking up a paper version of the programme from one of the venues. Far easier to navigate than the online version.
