From 16 June 2016 , another completely new dive experience is available – newly opened, the I&J Ocean Exhibit, which is 6m deep, has a full tunnel and displays incredible species including giant guitarfish, rays, bonito, yellowfin tuna, Yoshi the Aquarium’s resident loggerhead turtle, and much more.
Meanwhile the Ocean Basket Kelp Forest Exhibit offers kelp fronds, the red stumpnose and the galjoen, South Africa’s national fish. There is even a pyjama shark.
Anyone interested in diving at the Aquarium needs to have a minimum of a Discover Scuba qualification. They can attain this limited qualification either with the onsite instructor or through another dive school. If they have qualified with another instructor, that instructor needs to accompany them (at no charge) on their dive, together with the Aquarium’s own instructor.
Upon arrival, divers must present their dive card, logbook or certificate. Iain’s Scuba School at the Two Oceans Aquarium, which has been operating from the Aquarium for over a decade, can assist with providing the necessary training and qualification.
