espAfrika, the organiser of the acclaimed Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF), today launched a new series of outdoor jazz events.
Presented by Lion of Africa Insurance, ‘The Summer Jazz Series’, is set to play host to the likes of Jimmy Dludlu, Jimmy Nevis and Judith Sephuma who will be supported by several local acts. It will kick off on Sunday 26 January 2014 at the Liqui-Fruit Amphitheatre, adjacent to the Taal Monument in Paarl.
“Through our work with the CTIJF, we have noted a growing demand for mellow music events which can appeal to a broader audience,” commented Rashid Lombard, CEO of espAfrika. As a result, espAfrika has designed ‘The Summer Jazz Series’ to take advantage of the growing interest in the genre. “The programme will equally charm jazz aficionados and families, looking for a relaxing and entertaining way to spend quality time together,” said Lombard.
In its inaugural year, it has already attracted a star line-up of favourite South African artists. However, drawing on espAfrika’s unparalleled resources, the closing night of the series, Sunday 30 March will present an artist from the CTIJF line-up.
Concurring with Lombard, Adam Samie, CEO of Lion of Africa Insurance (the Presenting Sponsor) said: “Music is a great way to transcend generation gaps, cultural divides and build family reconnection. Jazz, and the Summer Jazz Series particularly, can provide people – young and old – with an opportunity to enjoy new experiences, meet new people, unwind and create new memories, all against the backdrop of a landmark setting and mellow music.”
The event is presented by Lion of Africa Insurance in association with Heart104.FM, Paarl Post and the South African Breweries.
