Portuguese pianist Luis Magalhaes performs in Cape Town during the Winter Symphony Season. Conducted by Bernhard Gueller, the programme includes John Simon “Seeing Stars” World Premiere, Prokofiev Concerto No. 3 and Franck Symphony.
Magalhaes is a South African Music Award (SAMA) winner for his collaboration with cellist Peter Martens on the complete cello sonatas of L. V. Beethoven, as well as receiving the honour of being named a Yamaha International Artist. The concert is preceded by a talk by FMR’s radio presenter Rodney Trudgeon at 7.15pm in the Sunken Lounge. For those not able to get to the concert, FMR is broadcasting the concert live on 101.3 FM and on the internet.
