Along with being what the Cape Times aptly describes as “the top event on Cape Town’s social calendar”, the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate is the oldest horse racing event in South Africa bearing international significance. See the champion racehorses perform in Grade 2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes – the premier sprint race for fillies in the Western Cape whilst showing off your best threads with the elegant blue and white theme in mind. Saturday sees the the Grade 1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate, where the champion horses compete for the R1.5 million purse.
Prizes are awarded for best dressed and best hat and food and drink is on sale. The LQP Garden Party offers guests the opportunity to wine and dine to the sound of live jazz before heading off to the races. A ticket to the Jazz Room affords access to car displays by the Franschhoek Motor Museum and BMW among other exclusive privileges. The Style Lounge entertainment marquee houses the after party, where top local DJs provide the soundtrack to a stylish summer party.
