The annual AfrikaBurn sees participants come together to create art, burning structures, costume, performance, theme camps, music, mutant vehicles and more in Tankwa Town.
AfrikaBurn’s aim is to be radically inclusive and accessible to anyone. The touchstone of value in the event’s culture is always immediacy: experience before theory, moral relationships before politics, survival before services, roles before jobs, ritual before symbolism, work before vested interest, participant support before sponsorship.
The theme for 2019 is: Ephemerality (the concept of things being transitory, existing only briefly)
“Afrikaburn stays with you, mirrored in the silly grin on your face as you stare into space thinking of those desert days.” Read Marilu Snyders’ review of AfrikaBurn.
