Antigone | Not Quite/Quiet

18 to 28 September 2019

Antigone | Not Quite/Quiet is the latest work from director, Professor Mark Fleishman. The play brings together the creative team that produced the critically-acclaimed productions of Voices Made Night and Heart of Redness.

Antigone tells an old story from the dawn of democracy. It has varying themes, such as rule, order, power, women and mortality.

The production brings together a group of exciting collaborators:  Mark Fleishman, Jennie Reznek, Neo Muyanga, Craig Leo and Mandisa Vundla.

In 2019 the UCT Centre for Theatre, Dance & Performance Studies, generously funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, embarks on an exciting 5-year research project on Re-imagining Tragedy from Africa and the Global South. Part of the project involves the making of four new ‘tragedies’ together with their partners at Magnet Theatre and The Baxter. This production is the first; the tragedy of the aftermath and the aftermath of tragedy.
