Art Month at Welgemeend, an annual celebration of arts and culture, returns with a diverse programme of events coordinated around a special theme.
The events are held at the historic Cape Town manor home of Welgemeend with the theme is 60/360. This year’s event celebrates collector and executive chairperson of Strauss & Co Frank Kilbourn, who with his wife, Lizelle, initiated this month-long art event in 2014, turning 60.
Art Month showcases works from the Kilbourn Collection, including some early pieces acquired with the assistance of late art dealer Leon Strydom.
Art Month kicks off with a dinner and fundraising auction, which is live-streamed for online participation, on 14 August. Highlights from the month-long programme include a classical piano recital by musical virtuoso Gerhard Joubert on Sunday on 12 September, exhibition walkabouts conducted by Frank Kilbourn and an art lecture series organised by auction house Strauss & Co.
There is also a lineup of lectures presented by Strauss & Co specialists:
