Profile: Claire Phillips


Vocalist, Songwriter and Musician, Claire Phillips is recognized and respected as one of South Africa’s most talented artists. Hailing from Belhar, a suburb on the Cape Flats, referred to by many as a musical genius since a young age. She plays the guitar, piano, saxophone and drums but wields her semi acoustic and acoustic guitar as her prime instrument of choice.

The singer normally performs in a quartet, using her own guitar, vocals alongside bass, keyboards and drums.

With Claire’s ability to mesmerize audiences, she received standing ovations across the country, selling out thousands of seats for her solo performances, as well as performing alongside Freshlyground, EJ von Lyrik, Prime Circle, Loyiso Bala and Oskido. She continued growing in statue, performing alongside internationally renowned artists, such as Diane Reeves, Rochelle Farrell, Jonas Rendbo and reggae icon Eddie Grant.

To date, Claire Phillips has performed at some of the country’s most successful concerts, performing alongside Jimmy Dludlu and internationally renowned Joe Mc Bride. Claire Phillips has recently returned from a successful five day tour to Kenya representing S.A at the annual Blankets & Wine Festival; working with renowned Kenyan producer Aaron “Crucial Key’s”.
