DF Malan St, Foreshore
The Artscape Theatre Centre is the ‘official’ theatre of the Western Cape and has seen productions such as Phantom of the Opera, Jersey Boys and Cats, as well as high profile operas and orchestral performances. It is also home to Cape Town Opera, the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and Fine Music Radio.
History: The Artscape Theatre Centre, which belongs to the provincial administration, was opened on 19 May 1971 as the Nico Malan Theatre Centre. In line with the new South African political dispensation and the concurrent changes the complex was renamed to Artscape in March 2001.
A R 1.5 billion refurbishment and extension is planned for the Artscape for 2015.

- 498 – 540-seat Theatre (dependant on the use of the orchestra pit), with provision for 2 wheelchairs
- 139-seat Arena
- several other spaces within the complex are used as needed
Facilities: Bars, attached to each venue, but no public restaurant. Disabled facilities are available.
Parking: Available in underground parking garage of Civic Centre building after 5.30 pm to midnight on weekdays and an hour before starting time of shows at weekends at R 17. There is also on-road parking in DF Malan St and Jan Smuts St.
