Sunflower Festival august highlights


The outdoor trance music festival returns, featuring a four-storey main stage and 3D visual effects. The headliners include Ace Ventura (Switzerland), Coming Soon! (Israel), Felguk (Brazil), Dazzo (Brazil), Off Limits (Israel), Reality Test (Germany), Meduza (Russia), Strange Loving (SA) and Dranged (SA).

Queens of Quick august highlights


Females are invited to come and recharge their batteries with a morning filled with relaxation, socialising, quality food and entertainment. Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp acts as MC for the event, with world-class TV chef Jenny Morris teaching shortcuts to quick meal times; fitness guru Bertus Alberts taking his cue for tips on health and fitness training with emphasis on competing against the clock; and professional female racing driver Andrea Bates motivating guests with her unique career choice.

Chocolate Festival august highlights


The opportunity to discover an appreciation for premium chocolate. Cape Town Opera presents Donizetti’s uproarious opera buffa where the course of true love never runs smoothly, and twists and turns are aplenty. The Italian comedy sees young lovers, Norina and Ernesto, decide to teach an unscrupulous elderly bachelor a lesson. Directed by Claudia Blersch (German) with Italian designer Giulio Bernardi joining Maritha Visagie to bring a slice of Neapolitan life to the Baxter Theatre stage.

What is South Africa Even


A mixed media group exhibition curated by Carlyn Strydom with works by Art of Brother (creative collective comprising of Karabo Makenna and Cobus Engelbrecht), Lhola Amira and Ronald Muchatuta. The exhibition explores the notion of a country coming to terms with itself as a diverse and complex society.

Journey Beyond


After a successful collaboration with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) in 2017, Zip Zap presents a new show that takes audiences on a magical journey featuring breathtaking acts alongside classical masterpieces performed by the CPO.

After Dark Majozi


Two Oceans Aquarium and Texx and the City have teamed up for After Dark, a series of stripped-down music events featuring some of South Africa’s best bands. This edition sees electro indie rocker, Majozi and Zimbabwean indie singer-songwriter, Gemma Griffiths take to the stage. The area in front of the I&J Ocean Exhibit is transformed into a cozy, living room-style setting.

Dein Perry’s Tap Dogs


Australia’s “most successful theatrical export” returns to South Africa. The multi-award winning 75-minute show combines the strength and power of workmen with the precision and talent of tap dancing. It features high-energy dance, theatrical performance and live music performed by a cast of six dancers and two musicians who bring the steel works to life in a fast-paced performance that is suitable for anyone from 8 to 80.
