Hamilton Gallery presents Shape Town, a solo exhibition of ceramic sculptures by award-winning South African ceramicist, Belinda Ormond.
Ormond takes inspiration from architectural and organic forms, weaving together Cape Town’s layered history, social geographies and natural treasures in her newest solo project. The Protea kingdom, the passing whales, the leaning pines on Devil’s Peak, the clouds which race over Table Mountain in summer, the Kalk Bay fishing vessels, places of worship, the guardian lighthouses, and the city skyline, among other recognisable forms, have been sculpted into free-standing ceramic poems.
