Local resident, community activist,and qualified guide Bilqees Baker leads this walking tour of the Bo-Kaap. See private, sacred and public spaces with a local. Baker takes the tour to South Africa’s oldest mosque, Cape Town’s leading spice shop and the kramats (shrines). He also talks about the country’s first political prisoners, slave history and community issues.
Those on the tour are invited to an optional home-made Cape Malay lunch in a private home after the tour (address sent upon booking).
The tours run on 27 February and 18 May 2019.
