Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company has announced that it has been unable to reach a settlement on salary increase negotiations with its staff members affiliated to the South African Commercial Catering Workers Union (SACCAWU).
Staff will be going on strike from tomorrow, Wednesday 28 September 2016 for an as yet unidentified period.
The Cableway will remain open (weather permitting) but with limited services, specifically:
- Operational hours, which will be reduced. The Cableway will run from 8.30am to 4.30pm (currently 8.30am to 7pm). Visitors affected by this can obtain a refund in line with the standard terms and conditions.
- The shop, the catering, the function rooms, and the frequency of the trips are all expected to be affected, as will ticket sales. Visitors are encouraged to buy their tickets online.
- The only accessible bus parking will be in the area beyond the Lower Cable Station.
- Check the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway for frequency of trips during this period of industrial action. Alternatively, check their Facebook page and Twitter account, or call the Cableway office on 021 424 0015.
