Profile: Cape Farmhouse

Redhill Rd, 3km past Scarborough
Nested in a sheltered valley and surrounded by old oak trees, this farmhouse offers relaxing al fresco dining – or if the weather is unpleasant, indoors in the historic farm building. Lunchtime menus are Africa-inspired, with spices and herbs of Morocco through to the Cape. Breakfasts are farm-style, with homemade bread and real free-range eggs. Most of the produce is gathered from the farm’s own organic vegetable gardens.

On Saturday afternoons the farmhouse often hosts outdoor concerts showcasing South African musicians. A cash bar and a variety of braai food (vegetarians not excluded) is available in addition to the menu.
There is a safe children’s play area, backed by the naturally beautiful Red Hill.
Other businesses on the farm include Casimi Jewellery, Red Rock Tribal (an African curio shop), Little Piece of Africa (a Zimbabwean sculpture garden) and the Sunscene Outdoor Adventure course.
