Baroque music ensemble, Camerata Tinta Barocca presents the inaugural Cape Town Baroque Festival, which consists of seven events and features works by 17th- and 18th-century composers, performed by baroque specialists.
The festival concerts feature musicians such as Lynelle Kenned (soprano), Elsabé Richter (soprano), Sandile Mabaso (tenor), Bongani Kubheka (bass-baritone), Ralitza Macheva (violin), Refiloe Olifant (violin), Cecilia di Cecco (cello), John Coulter (fortepiano), Erik Dippenaar (harpsichord), as well as the Camerata Tinta Barocca, Cape Consort, VOX Cape Town Choir, and the Cape Town Chamber Choir.
A walking tour of the historical buildings presented by the heritage architect John Rennie is also available at the event. The festival starts with a gala concert of music from baroque operas and ends with a lunch, presented by Sing For Your Supper and husband-and-wife team mezzo-soprano Monika Voysey and Chef Marc Wassung.
