Cape Town City Ballet presents Amaranth at Artscape Theatre.
Amaranth consists of neo-classical and contemporary pieces such as George Balanchine’s Serenade, Frank Staff’s Transfigured Night and Christopher L. Huggins’ Enemy Behind the Gates.
Serenade by George Balanchine is a signature work of the New York City Ballet’s repertory and is staged for Cape Town City Ballet by Rebecca Hirsch.
Frank Staff’s Transfigured Night is based on a true story, honours South African heritage in the programme, and is staged by Veronica Paeper.
Enemy Behind the Gates is by American choreographer, Christopher L. Huggins and offers an athletic mixture of contemporary ballet and modern movement.
