Cape Town City Ballet Presents Amaranth

Amaranth consists of neo-classical and contemporary pieces such as George Balanchine’s Serenade, Frank Staff’s Transfigured Night and Christopher L. Huggins’ Enemy Behind the Gates.

Aquarium After Dark Series: Dangerfields and Twin Weaver

Dangerfields and Twin Weaver, both Cape Town bands, perform at the 2019 After Dark Music Series hosted by Texx and the City and the Two Oceans Aquarium. Dangerfields has a reputation for putting on live performances that take their listeners on a journey. Twin Weaver is a four-piece, self-produced, alternative-pop group formed in late 2016.

The Little Mermaid Musical – An Adventure Under the Sea

Alexis Petersen stars as the eponymous mermaid in Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid musical.  The rest of the cast features Naledi Theatre Award nominees Marcel Meyer and Rebecca Hartle, Matthew Baldwin, Alexander Tops and Shakir Bester. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Santa Shoebox Project as part of Canal Walk’s corporate social responsibility.

Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town Presents Carmina Burana

Created by German composer Carl Orff in the mid-1930s, Carmina Burana is a secular music piece based on 24 poems selected from a medieval collection of texts by the same name. The composition has been used in many adverts and movies. The program also includes instrumental works for pianos and a percussion ensemble.

Conrad Hick’s Studio Forge Tour

Conrad Hicks opens his studio forge in the historic Bijou building in Observatory, Cape Town, for a private tour. This is a rare opportunity to step inside the world of South Africa’s foremost artist-blacksmith.
