Ceres Rail Company

The Ceres Rail Company offers a magnificent trip on their historic passenger train to the popular Elgin Railway Market.

Once aboard passengers enjoy a 3-hour rail experience to Elgin, travelling through the beautiful Cape, up the majestic Sir Lowrys Pass, and then down into the Elgin Valley.

There is a fully licensed cash bar on board as well as a dining car providing coffee and other snacks. Various books and memorabilia are also available for purchase onboard. A card machine makes life easier.

At the market, whilst enjoying the live music, guests can wander through the many stalls offering delicious food, a wide selection of local wines, ciders and gin. Various bespoke craft stalls selling a wide range of goods including jewellery, leather goods, wire art, etc are also on site.

There are 5 packages to choose from: Family Compartment (4 adults, 2 children), Family Coupè (2 adults, 2 children), Day Seating (1 adult), Bar Lounge Seating (1 adult, no U 18’s), and Observation Car (Groups 15-28 pax).

The Company dedicates itself to the promotion of rail freight services for the agriculture and other sectors to move freight to Transnet’s mainline connections; and heritage rail tourism; and, in the process, create jobs, economic benefits, tourism and business drawcards.
