The Collective – Hout Bay is a local artisan gift emporium and market complimented by a Pantry/Deli gift section that features over 200 local makers, creatives and artists, whose products are all made by hand and celebrate South Africa – from quality bespoke furniture and ceramics to a wide variety of carefully curated gifts.

Situated in one of the historical buildings in the area, the iconic Old Post Office, The Collective – Hout Bay offers the ideal outing, boasting something of everything, local artisan shopping, beading, ice cream, local eaterie, a teahouse and even a kid’s play area

The indoor fireplace makes for a cozy space in which to browse the many home fragrances, wax candles, ceramic bowls, pinch pots, chili sauces, cushion covers, artisanal soaps, bottle bags, olive oil, and other functional ware sold here.

Some of the creators’ names like Kim Black Art are renowned all over the world. Others are familiar too like Juliet Eidelman, Angel Vases by Eve Art, Milky Rose Jewellery, Amanda Jayne, and Graeme Coutts. Many of the items are natural and/or recyclable.

The latest addition is the Café Collective situated in the Precinct Courtyard under the trees offering a lovely variety of Cakes, Pastries and Light seasonal meals.

Visitors can enjoy The Café Collective’s 100% Cape Town Roasted organic coffee with a choice of cakes and pastries by local pastry chefs and light meals from breakfast options to lunch.  Options include bagels with fresh ingredients, quiches and light snacks.
