Don Quixote – Cape Town City Ballet

16
20 to 29 October 2017

don quixote 2The Cape Town City Ballet presents Liane Lurie’s revival of the popular full length ballet, Don Quixote. This production captures the humour, Spanish flavour and thrills of the original Cervantes work. The ballet is accompanied by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Brandon Phillips, at all but one of the performances, and stars Laura Bosenberg, Mariette Opperman and Thomas Thorne.

With music by Ludwig Minkus and choreography after Petipa, Gorsky and Nureyev, Ms Lurie incorporates all the traditionally-expected virtuoso pas de deux and solos, along with some unexpected surprises. A light-hearted ballet in 3 acts, filled with a combination of bravado and pure classicism.

Venue: Artscape Opera House, Artscape Theatre Centre, D.F. Malan St, Foreshore, Cape Town
Time: Fri & Sat 7.30pm | Sat again at 2pm | Sun 3pm
Cost: R100 – R350
