Marie-Louise Koen presents Been Dreaming of the Med, series of seascapes along the coast of the Italian Amalfi, with a singular scene from Gozo, Malta.
The pop-up exhibition, by Cape Town-born Artist and Interior Designer Marie-Louise Koen, was inspired by her travels across Italy. This new collection is a stark change from her usual subject matter in portraiture and female form.
The artworks are further inspired by the words of Amalfi, a poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882). The exhibition keeps true to her modernist, expressionistic style, and creates a real-life portal into “a land beyond the sea”.
Been Dreaming of the Med can be viewed at THE YARD (Silo 4, Silo District V&A waterfront) opening 2 June until 30 June, and the print series collection at The ultimate summer pop up (shop 2A, V&A Waterfront) opening 9 June 9th.
