Drone Racing Africa offers those who are interested in this innovative and rapidly growing sport the opportunity to learn how to fly and race drones. The Drone Racing Africa league caters to all age groups and abilities, offering competition categories and classes ranging from junior school children through to adults. The aviation school provides junior drone racing courses, adult drone competency certificates, corporate workshops and team-building exercises, activations and drone racing birthday parties.
Participants see how sport meets technology in one of the introductory courses to First Person View (FPV) drone piloting. The course offers a full introduction to FPV drone racing and provides applicable and relevant theory followed by practical application, with the majority of each course spent flying on simulators, line-of sight drones and FPV racing. The drone racing course is designed for school goers aged 8-16 years (adults are accommodated if interested) and takes place over two consecutive days (weekend or during school holidays) for four hours per day. DRA also provides a drone certificate course that teaches drone owners to fly a drone safely and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the South African Civil Aviation Authority. The course takes place over 1.5 days and consists of theory, simulator and practical modules, and is aimed at drone enthusiasts (16 years and above) who either already own a drone or who are interested in buying one to fly on a regular basis for recreational purposes.
