Elysium in McGregor Village features The Space self-catering accommodation and Alila Pottery studio where artist Alila Hofmeyr offers pottery classes and workshops.
Alila and her partner Lyle are originally from Cape Town and aim to provide a space of happiness and contentment, which is the definition of Elysium. Lyle works on the garden and Alila focuses on the pottery studio and accommodation.
The Space is a private, spacious, open-plan 2 bedroom self-catering cottage semi-detached from Alila’s house with its own separate entrance and off-street parking for 2 cars.
The front patio and garden receive the morning sun, the perfect spot for guests to enjoy coffee and watch the birdlife. There is a back courtyard with a braai area which receives the afternoon sun.
Inside the cottage is art from local artists, botanical prints and other found and collected treasures. Current artworks are from Amy Ayanda, Catherine Hutton-Squire Theron, Amy Simons, Emma Norse, Natasha Viljoen and Meg Jordi who are all artists living in Cape Town. Tony Meintjies and Lies Hoogendoorn are based in McGregor and there is also a small collection of pottery.
Alila hosts pottery workshops in various techniques and teaches private group workshops and private classes in both hand building and wheel throwing.
