After wowing opera lovers across Europe, Cape Town Opera’s Chorus returns to the Mother City to treat locals to a limited run of vibrant Christmas song with African Angels. The ensemble promises two evenings of popular operatic repertoire infused with African traditionals, gospel music, and Christmas melodies for that uniquely homegrown touch. And for an extra edge, a special tribute to Johnny Clegg is also on the programme. African Angels is under the tight direction of Tara Notcutt, with Jose Dias and resident Chorus Master Marvin Kernelle overseeing the music.
Cape Town Opera’s Chorus is well-known for their dazzling display of exceptional voices paired with stylistic variety. The singers will embark on a tour throughout January 2020 to showcase their South African talent to audiences in Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

It is time to celebrate the year that was and welcome 2020 with a sultry Havana Nights Party at Hazendal Wine Estate. Revellers will start the evening with arrival drinks and canapés, followed by a Cuban-inspired three course feast. And no Cuban fiesta would be worthy without a bit of salsa.

Cape Town’s coolest summer music and food festival is wrapping up 2019 with a bang for their final date of the year. Sizzled is no ordinary festival – the new Fort Wynard venue is a breath of fresh air from the festive manic of the inner Mother City. Start practicing those dance moves, because the killer DJ and artist lineup includes heavyweights such as Kid Fonque promising a taste of experimental club culture, hip-hop stalwart DJ Kenzero who needs no introduction, and Nate Laurence coming all the way from the US to deliver some underground house beats.

There are plenty of ways you could experience Cape Town’s famous hospitality and cultural events, but here’s one that will really court classical music enthusiasts. The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra has once again teamed up with conductor Richard Cock, for a laid-back evening filled with popular classical works for their Viennese New Year’s concert.
Soprano Hlengiwe Mkhwanazi and tenor Sipho Fubesi waltz you down the Blue Danube with arias by Puccini and Verdi, and you can hear the gorgeous Donna Diana overture, as well as a number of Strauss father and son galopps, waltzes, marches and polkas, all melodies to hum and sing.
The event is taking place on January 5, a perfect excuse to recover from the madcap NYE parties for a more chilled, family-friendly affair while supporting local talent.
