Nederburg is putting to the test the concept of “eating with our eyes” with a new sense-deprivation food-and-wine tasting experience.
Hosted at the Manor restaurant, situated in Nederburg’s historic manor house, the experience strips away guests’ sight and hearing to show how wine, food and flavours are affected by the different senses.
The taste journey kicks off with a Cap Classique on arrival, followed by three mini food courses, each matched with one of Nederburg’s fine wines. Guests are blindfolded throughout, and have wireless headphones filling their ears with music. They then try the same line-up of food and wine, but this time without the blindfold and headphones, to experience how tastes change.
At least four guests are required to participate, with a maximum of 20 guests accommodated at one time. Pre-booking is required.
