Conceptualised in 2005 and officially founded in 2016, Heavy Chef is a community run organisation that was inspired by the expression “never trust a skinny chef”, and has now evolved into a platform for “people that do”.
Doers are people who get their hands dirty and teach through action, and those are the people Heavy Chef aim to collaborate with. Their monthly events, workshops, tours and media provide a platform for people that walk the talk, practice what they preach and that do. The events focus on leadership, technology and creativity, bringing together a community of like-minded individuals who want to make things happen. Heavy Chef aims to inspire their community members to be brave enough to start new ventures, and then empower them to succeed.
Heavy Chef features some of the most inspiring entrepreneurs and personalities in the world, then deliver that content via the HC Magazine and Shows. The organisation aims to inspire people to start things – social ventures, businesses that do good, “kickass” products, action groups, spin-offs of existing businesses, entrepreneurial initiatives and side projects – and then empower them with the tools to do it.
“If you are looking for inspiration and self-empowerment, a Heavy Chef talk will leave you with food for thought.” Read Marilu Snyders’ review of Heavy Chef.
