January Cabaret Club

THE CABARET CLUB

The Cape Town City Ballet joins forces with multi-instrumentalist Camillo Lombard, his band and singers to present a jazzy cabaret-style ballet. Choreographed by Craig Pedro, Mervyn Williams and Robin van Wyk to smash hits of the 1980s.

January King Kong

KING KONG RETURN SEASON

Returning by popular demand, the iconic South African musical, King Kong. The play portrays the life and times of heavyweight boxer Ezekiel Dlamini, known as `King Kong`, who lived in Soweto. Desmond Dube joins the cast.

January In perpetuum

IN PERPETUUM

The Iziko South African National Gallery presents a solo exhibition by sculptor Beth Diane Armstrong, the 2017 Standard Bank Young Artist winner and resident artist at the Cape Town Everard Read Gallery.

January Underwater Photographer of Year

UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR 2017

The Chavonnes Battery Museum hosts an exhibition featuring 50 intriguing images in 10 categories by 100 finalists from 20 countries, including South Africa, Mexico, Finland, Indonesia, Egypt, Sudan, Norway, Canada, France, Italy and the UK.

January Cape Town Parade

CAPE TOWN STREET PARADE 2018

Kick off the New Year, and see the Mother City come to life with a colourful and vibrant procession from the CBD to Bo-Kaap. Previously known as the Tweede Nuwe Jaar Minstrel Parade, the parade seeks to be an inclusive carnival for those who participate in it.

157th L’ORMARINS QUEEN’S PLATE

The oldest horse racing event in South Africa bearing international significance. Champion racehorses perform and racegoers show off their best threads in the traditional blue and white theme.

January Michael McIntyre

MICHAEL MCINTYRE’S BIG WORLD TOUR

The multi-award-winning British comedian, actor and presenter returns to South Africa for his Big World Tour. McIntyre has hosted his own BBC One comedy programme Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, featured in three episodes of Live at the Apollo, and currently presents his own Saturday night series Michael McIntyre’s Big Show on BBC One.

January Vivaldi 4 Seasons

VIVALDI 4 SEASONS

Oude Libertas presents a performance of Vivaldi’s four concertos, The Four Seasons, as part of its Summer Season Festival. The original scores are played with the addition of Albert Frost on guitar, Stanislav Anguelov on accordion and Schalk Joubert on double bass.

January Up The Creek

UP THE CREEK FESTIVAL
