The NPO, Ladles of Love, hosts a soup kitchen event for Mandela Day. They are putting out a call for action for volunteers to help make over 2 000 litres of wholesome soup for the thousands of homeless and hungry people of Cape Town.
They have allocations of over 40 different 67-minute time slots throughout the day. There are a variety of activities, including sorting the donated soup ingredients, peeling and chopping vegetables, cooking and stirring, handing out food, helping to manage the queues or being on the tidy up team. Funds raised are going to ongoing Ladles of Love feeding initiatives.
Ladles Of Love offers a practical way for people from all walks of life to provide a wholesome meal to their fellow citizens who have lost their way. The food is healthy and freshly prepared. They are an extensive community project dedicated to feeding hungry people. Their soup kitchens feed the homeless of Cape Town every week. Other projects provide food to struggling schools, students and communities.
