Oil painting by Andrew Berman

The Artists’ Co Operative is a life drawing and painting group which has been based in Observatory since the late 1980’s. The level of skill in the group ranges from beginners to professional artists; the common thread between everyone is a shared interest in art and figure painting.

Each week a model is employed and as a group the cost of the model and the studio is shared. Enough time is budgetted for oil painting but members also use watercolour, pastels, pencil, ink and/or charcoal. There is no tuition, but there is plenty of peers to review and advise.

Venue: Observatory Community and Recreation Centre, Rawson St, Observatory, Cape Town
Time: 6:15pm to 8:45pm | individual time slots during the week can be booked
Cost: For inquiries about fees and joining the group refer to the email contacts below
