(18 March 2020) LATEST UPDATE: Lucy G Craft Cafe has decided to close down for the foreseeable future in light of circumstances surrounding COVID-19.
Lucy G Craft Cafe is a cafe with coffees, teas, cakes and light meals, as well as a creative space with a variety of craft activities on menu.
Crafts on offer include fabric painting, mosaic work, beading, clock making, papercrafts, wood crafts, ceramic painting and flow painting.
Founded with the purpose of creating meaningful employment for many young adults with disabilities, who are capable of working, Lucy G aims to create an inclusive environment while also offering a service to the wider community – a space to be creative, stimulated and have fun.
Through making simple accommodations, Lucy G’s staff understand what is required of them, and become more assured and independent. Through the staff’s growth, acceptance of all, and a sense of humour, the cafe further aims to change the perceptions held surrounding those who live with disabilities.
They offer resources and easy access to cater for the needs of all and all participants are welcome to the cafe, regardless of ability level. Their studio area offers a variety of craft activities and accommodates both small and large groups. The staff provide all advice and equipment necessary to get started with minimum fuss, and all activities are tailored to the ability level of the individual.
