The Moёt & Chandon Golden Christmas Tree – four-storeys high and built with over 1 800 recycled champagne bottles – has officially been lit up.
The lighting ceremony was attended by Rugby World Cup winning Captain Siya Kolisi, TV personality Boity Thulo and various other celebrities to mark the start of the festive season.
A gold ribbon is wrapped around the tree, which is made out of 2000 discs. Once the sun sets, visitors can look forward to a lighting display with over 230 metres of LED lights synced with themed festive music.
For those who missed out on the lighting experience, Moët & Chandon have organised an additional 3 Festive Fridays: the first, second and third Fridays of December, each of which include a Golden Tree lighting experience.
The tree remains in place until the first Monday of 2020.
Venue: Silo District, Silos 5 & 6, Silo Square, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town
Time: 6.30pm to 9.30pm
