The Montagu Herb Festival celebrates the heritage of the Montagu Museum Herb Project that offers dining experiences, tours, discussions and a herb-inspired 3 course dinner with much entertainment.
Hosted over three days at the Old Mission Church with markets and stalls, speakers and demonstrations, launch of the museum’s new Herbal Remedies book and guided tours through the herb gardens and harvest locations.
The Festival pays homage to the local Khoisan, who were the initial harvesters of herbs in the area.
Various activities and entertainment are on offer that includes the Herb-inspired Dinner, Donkerkloof Hike, Nature Garden Walk, Guided tours of Joubert House and art sculpture exhibition.
The Saturday Sunset Concert and Picnic features DJ Longi, Aviwe, Mbulelo, Viv Rivers and Negus & Bain.
All talks are free of charge but tickets for the 3-course dinner, Donkerkloof Hikes, Nature Garden Walk and Saturday Picnic and Concert are available for booking or sold at the Old Mission Church in Long Street.
Guest speakers at the Herb Project Memoirs include Dr Deoni van Rensburg, Mariana Rabie, Henk and Johannita Venter, Jeremy Acton, Rupert Koopman, Dave Pepler and Liana Jansen and Dr Yvette van Wijk.
