Nobu, one of the world’s most revered Japanese restuarants, can now be experienced at One&Only Cape Town. The brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Nobu, guests experience a fusion of Japanese classic dishes with Peruvian flavours.
This is the only Nobu in Africa, offering a menu which includes the master chef’s famous black cod in miso and a full selection of sushi, sashimi, tiradito, ceviche, tempura and toban yaki. Fresh South African seafood is available, combining with the flavours of Asia and South America.
Nobu’s Omakase experience presents menus that are created ‘from the heart’ in the Japanese tradition and tailored for the individual. The meal is paired with sake, Japan’s celebrated rice-based wine, providing an umami taste and a potent kick. This experience is then rounded off with either homemade mochi or Nobu’s unique take on the South African delicacy, malva pudding.
Japanese tradition can be further experienced with Nobu’s sushi counter, providing the opportunity to see the age-old ritual of sushi preparation. Guests can also choose to settle down upstairs at the Nobu Lounge – a space for snacks, cocktails and flasks of sake.
Head Chef Harold Hurtada and his team at Nobu can be joined for a gourmet brunch on the last Saturday of every month, from 11.30am to 2.30pm, with live DJ entertainment. The menu highlights a combination of Nobu’s cuisine with Louis Roederer’s ‘Cristal’, an internationally famed Champagne. The brunch goes on to include a glass of Louis Roederer on arrival and a ‘free-flow’ of South African wines throughout the meal.
Those interested are advised to note that Nobu has a dress code of formal and that some products in their menu may change on short notice based on seasonal and regional availability.
Reservations are to be secured either via email or Nobu’s online calendar.
