Art Franschhoek October Highlights

ART FRANSCHHOEK

The annual festival sees visitors experiencing a month of artworks and exhibitions as the scenic town opens its doors to the public. Art enthusiasts can choose to view the artworks on display not just in galleries, but in public spaces and at some wine farms, such as Grande Provence and La Motte.

Cinderella October Highlights

CAPE TOWN CITY BALLET’S CINDERELLA

CTCB presents the iconic classical ballet. The ballet is performed in three acts and set to Prokofiev’s score, played by the Cape Town Philharmonic at select performances (conducted by Brandon Phillips). The production incorporates new digital elements by design luminary Peter Cazalet. International guest artist Maxime Quiroga returns from France to dance the role of Prince Charming opposite CTCB’s senior principal ballerina, Laura Bosenberg for three performances.

The Galileo

THE GALILEO OPEN AIR CINEMA

The Galileo Open Air Cinema returns, featuring a variety of movie favourites under a ceiling of stars at some of Cape Town’s most popular venues. The movie schedule is released on 1 October 2018.

Benjamin Britten October Highlights

BENJAMIN BRITTEN’S WAR REQUIEM

The Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town performs a large-scale, non-liturgical setting of the Requiem, rarely performed because of the logistics requires. Five choirs and two orchestras are coming together to execute this work in honour of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Shekinah

IPOTSOYI SPRING FESTIVAL

The annual urban outdoor music event centred around the “love and enjoyment of a good vibe” and party experience returns. The event features live performances by top South African acts, blending Hip-Hop, House and Afro-House music. The 2018 line-up features AKA, Shekhinah, Kwesta and others.

Tears Sleepathon

TEARS SLEEPATHON 2018

TEARS Animal Rescue hosts its annual Sleepathon, inviting others to put their empathy into practice, grab their sleeping bags, and spend a night at the shelter with rescued dogs or cats for a unique sleepover. The sleepathon is a fundraising event that goes toward tangible, needed items and procedures for the disadvantaged pets.

The Bubbly Fetsival

THE BUBBLY FESTIVAL

A celebration of Champagne, bubbly, glitz, glam, fashion and entertainment. The event features Champagne and bubbly tastings, live music from top bands Freshlyground and Flat Stanley, a fashion show, a Sabrage performed by a well-known winemaker, a Glam Bar to touch-up make-up and more.

Zombie Walk

ZOMBIE WALK/FEST

Zombies take over the streets of Cape Town in the annual Halloween-themed walk. Zombie Fest is an all ages event making it fun for the entire family and is the only pet friendly event of its kind. After party takes place at Madison Avenue.

Kite Festival

CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL

Africa’s biggest kite festival sees kiters from around the world flying incredible kite creations. Bring along your own kite to fly in the public flying arena, buy a kite at the festival or make one; there are several free kite-making workshops for children and adults on both days. Visitors can also expect live music, dance and comedy, a tea garden, food trucks and fairground rides.

Paw Patrol Live

PAW PATROL LIVE!

Based on the Nickelodeon hit animated TV series, PAW Patrol Live! Race to the Rescue comes to South Africa with its new tour, bringing everybody’s favourite pups to the stage for an action-packed, high-energy, musical adventure. Featuring Ryder, Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Sky and Everest, the performance includes up-tempo music and a cleverly-written script that is a good introduction to live theatre for kids.
