Gallery at Glen Carlou hosts a solo exhibition of the work of Oliver Scarlin, Capetonian painter and ceramicist, entitled Be Still My Heart.
Scarlin paints primarily from observation, and is interested in exploring perception through form and colour. He makes functional ceramic objects that feature in his still-life work. The work is designed to feel intimate, and is informed by themes of memory, longing, and queer domesticity.
Scarlin studied painting at the Florence Academy of Art after first undertaking a BA in visual art in Stellenbosch.
