Performing Arts Courses for Kids & Teens

There are few better ways to allow your child to express their creativity than through performance. We have compiled a list of drama, music and dance schools that work to nurture talent and grow the confidence of every child who enters their doors. These schools are not for holiday activities but rather provide extracurricular classes for children to attend throughout the year. Let your child express who they are and maybe even uncover an artistic talent they never knew existed.

Regardless of age and ability, those who have a desire to learn an instrument are welcome at the Woodstock Academy of Music (WAM). They offer lessons in guitar, piano, drums, bass, saxophone, trumpet, violin, cello or vocals. The teachers are professional and dedicated, working by the standards of WAM founder Rus Nerwich.

Rus has produced several albums and travelled the world playing concerts, collaborating and performing with top musicians. WAM is the realisation of his dream to create a space where everyone can come learn and share in the joy of music. It is a place to play an instrument and to nurture and guide, creating an inspiring place to learn, practice and record music. His vision is that anyone with a passion for music can call WAM home.

Woodstock Academy of Music is for those who just want to play for themselves or for the people who want to play professionally. Budding musicians can visit even if you do not know what instrument you want to play- you can try a few and discover the one for you.

WAM offers one on one lessons, group lessons and band mentoring. They also offer parent and kids’ classes where music can become a family experience.  Those who want to learn are required to pay for 4 lessons up front.

spotlight drama

Drama can benefit all children and assist them in reaching their full potential. Spotlight Drama Studio aims to encourage creative thought and ideas and provide opportunities for expression of these ideas through the medium of drama. There is also value in learning drama in classes as it helps children to learn to respect one another, to interrelate positively and to communicate effectively.

Classes cover different facets of drama including voice production, mime, movement, improvisation, characterization, play building and acting technique.

Once a year the studio holds a public production so that the children are given an opportunity to perform for an audience and thus grow in confidence.

The studio also helps with entries to exams and Eisteddfods, and train their students for entry into Trinity College Drama. Children enter these on a solo basis, for further extension and growth.

Spotlight Drama Studio runs weekly group drama lessons, with 8 lessons per term.
