With the number of South African vegans doubling every two years, our businesses are listening and the number of vegan and plant-based food options is forever increasing. Whether you are looking for plant-based catering, food products or places to socialise and celebrate, we’ve got you covered.
WILD – PLANT BASED ALCHEMY
Wild is a vegan catering company that wishes to inspire more of the world to include plant-based foods in their diet. They offer catering, group and private cooking classes as well as healthy lunch options in Cape Town CBD. With many of their ingredients being sourced locally, Wild places emphasis on providing conscious, nutritious foods.
Wild can be found at Earth Fair Market, St George’s Mall on Thursdays between 11am and 3pm and at Nude Foods on Constitution Street on Fridays between 11am and 3pm.
At the Vegan Caravan of Love, just outside Nude Foods, Wild’s menu includes Falafel wraps and the Wild Feast. Their Wild Feast includes all salads of the day, dressing, hummus, falafel balls, pickled cabbage, fried aubergine, tahini and ‘tzatziki’ sauce. When visiting Wild at Earth Fair Market, St George’s Mall, bring your own container and cutlery for the feast and get R5 off.
Their vegan catering menu is not set, but rather the owner, Britney keeps the menu selective in order to adjust to the unique needs and budgets of Wild’s clients. They cater for weddings, birthdays, workshops, retreats, work functions, dinner parties and picnics. Catering clients can choose from various vegan, gluten-free and healthy options.

Oh!Poppyseed provides South Africans with plant-based biltong for the sake of our culture, health and environment.
Oh!Poppyseed began after the owners educated themselves on the meat industry and the health and environmental benefits of eating a plant-based diet. As new vegans, they thrived on the lifestyle but missed biltong enough to develop a plant-based alternative. They now aim to make it easier for biltong-loving South Africans to reduce their meat intake.
Oh!Poppyseed biltong does not contain cholesterol, trans fat or bad karma. It is high in protein, calcium and iron. And it comes in three flavours: regular, garlic and chilli.
Oh!Poppyseed is offering What’s on in Cape Town readers a discount on their first purchase from their online store. In order to benefit, use the discount code WHATSONINCAPETOWN at checkout. They offer nationwide shipping.
