Local Musician Dan Shout hosts a 2-hour pop-up jazz busker show on the Sea Point Promenade, near Winchester Mansions, provided that the weather is good.
Members of the public are reminded to adhere to lockdown regulations, wear a mask and observe social distancing.
Dan Shout is a Cape Town Based saxophonist who has performed and/or recorded with the likes Johnny Clegg, Winston Mankunku, Darryl Andrews, Mike Campbell, Alvin Dyers, Maria Schneider and Ensemble Denada, Echoes of Ellington/Edinburgh Festival Orchestra and many more.
Dan has performed in over 30 countries across five continents and at major events such as the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival (2015), the Soccer World Cup in Germany (2006), Rugby World Cup in France (2007), Nelson Mandela’s 46664 Concert at Ellis Park (2007) and President Zuma’s Inauguration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria (2015).
Dan has a Masters Degree with Distinction in Jazz Performance & Jazz Styles and Analysis. In addition to his work as a session musician, he is a permanent, part-time lecturer at the South African College Of Music at the University of Cape Town (saxophone, Jazz Styles & Analysis, Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Improvisation), and presents workshops at jazz conferences and music stores.
