Reflections and Illuminations presents an online musical show featuring South African mezzo-soprano Minette du Toit-Pearce, versatile pianist Philippus Hugo and Stellenbosch University’s own talented cellist Sunday Kelechi.
Each performance breaks away from traditional formats with a focus on a central theme of reflection and illumination. The audience is treated to works by Strauss, Debussy, Saint-Saëns, Grieg, Brahms and Fauré, as well as South African composer Antoni Schonken.
The programme showcases these among major players in classical music with each of the three performers showcasing their musicality.
Minette du Toit-Pearce regularly performs as a soloist in Oratorio and is an accomplished singer of lieder both locally and abroad. Philippus Hugo holds many prestigious accolades over a longstanding career. Nigerian cellist, Sunday Kelechi is a 2nd-year Performance Diploma student at Stellenbosch. Currently, he is a co-principal cellist of the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and principal cellist of the Stellenbosch University Symphony Orchestra.
The concert is scheduled for broadcast on Sunday 1 November at 4pm and is available online until Sunday 8 November 2020.
