As nature shows us, winter is the perfect time to retreat into stillness and take a moment to prioritise our well-being. All of us find renewal in different ways. Some find solace in nature or some pampering while others seek guidance on how to quiet the mind. However you find your zen, here’s our list of places and activities that will help you to rest, restore and rejuvenate.
FIND CONNECTION THROUGH YOGA WITH JOELLE SLEEBOS
Joëlle Sleebos is all about connection. She focuses on creating spaces that assist her clients to rediscover connection with themselves, their bodies and those they share life with. She is an international yoga teacher living between Cape Town, Bali and Europe.
Joëlle is offering you numerous ways to rejuvenate this winter. Her luxurious Toontjesrivier weekend retreat takes place from 16 August to 18 August 2019. It includes two daily yoga classes, tranquil farm surroundings and meals by private Italian chef, Lapo from Lapo’s Kitchen. If you are looking to chase summer, Joëlle is also hosting retreats in Sri Lanka, Spain, Italy and Bali this year.
Symbiotic Series, hosted by both Joëlle and Lapo Magni, is a unique monthly event that combines yoga and Sunday brunch. The food is organic and sustainably grown and having yoga experience is certainly not a prerequisite to joining.
Joëlle’s way of giving back is through her NGO called Dharma Project, which hosts International Day of Yoga (IDY) in Cape Town. This year, it takes place on 22 June. Entries are free, but participants are encouraged to donate to Earthchild Project. Tickets are available on her website.

HIKE WITH LP ADVENTURES
Whether you are a local or tourist, an immersive experience of Cape Town’s mountains is a must. Liz, the founder of LP Adventures, is offering you the opportunity to escape cabin fever this winter and see life from a different perspective – from on top of Table Mountain.
Her hikes are an opportunity to get into nature, whilst breaking away from daily routines and stale habits. Liz most enjoys offering her clients a chance to be amongst the fynbos and to experience alternative hiking routes. She believes that it is through venturing off of the well-trodden, tourist hiking trails that you get to explore the true treasures of Table Mountain.
LP Adventures has mapped a few trails and is now offering three main hiking trails: India Venster, Myburgh’s Waterfall Ravine and Tranquility Cracks/Kasteelpoort. These are full-day hikes and include transport and a healthy picnic lunch.
