Review: 25Live – Zip Zap & The Parlotones

25Live Parlotones Zip ZapAcclaimed rock band The Parlotones and the Zip Zap circus have teamed up to create a dynamic, high energy showcase that mixes the band’s distinct sound with jaw-dropping acrobatics. 25Live celebrates the 25th year of Zip Zap’s existence and does so with aplomb.

The Parlotones have always had a flare for the theatrical, so while the concept is novel it doesn’t come across as forced. The aesthetics of matching their music with the colourful and impressive performers of the Zip Zap circus and their high-flying manoeuvres is entertaining. If you haven’t yet seen Zip Zap in action, 25 Live is a welcome introduction that will keep you on the edge of your seat, gawking at the impossible choreography while being rocked by one of South Africa’s iconic bands.

The show is directed by Zip Zap co-founder Brent van Rensburg and The Parlotones frontman Kahn Morbee.
