Spier’s Wine Tasting and Platters

The Spier Wine Tasting Room has extended its opening hours, giving visitors the chance to have wine tastings and sundowners until 7pm every day until 6 January. With a focus on experience, Spier offers wine tastings accompanied by live music and views of the surrounding mountains and the farm’s dam – a site for a great variety of birdlife. Wine tastings take about 45 minutes.

Choose three wines from Spier’s Signature range and one from each of the two premium wine ranges, 21 Gables and Creative Block.

Five ‘wines of the day’. Tasting includes a wine glass. 

Chocolate and Wine Tasting | R70
Inspired by Spier’s Signature Méthode Cap Classique and Creative Block blends, a chocolatier has carefully crafted chocolates to complement and unlock nuanced flavours in each of the wines.

Winemaker Selection | R90
The two premium wine ranges plus Spier’s organic red wine, First Stone.

Children’s Grape Juice Tasting | R40
Includes a lucky packet, a tasting of two different grape juices and an educational activity sheet.

Spier platter

Cheese and charcuterie platters are available to order when having a Spier wine tasting. The cheese is sourced from Dalewood Fromage in Paarl and the charcuterie is farmed by Spier’s resident Farmer Angus. All meat for the platters is from pasture-raised and grass-fed cattle.

Spier wine can be bought at cellar door prices.
A reservation is required for groups larger than 8 people.

Light Art Exhibition
Running til the end of January, Spier’s first Light Art exhibition is a dazzling array of light and sound artworks for visitors of all ages to enjoy throughout the farm.

Segway Tours
These tours offer the chance to explore Spier on a segway: a two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery powered personal transporter. No U10s. Tours take place at scheduled times throughout the day. Spier offers a 1-hour Segway Tour, a 2-hour Farm & Vineyards Glide and a 2-hour Sunset Tour.

Eagle Encounters
As Spier’s eco-tourism, bird of prey rehabilitation, and educational centre. Eagle Encounters receives birds that have been injured, poisoned and abused. Their first priority is to rehabilitate and release them as soon as possible. Only hand-reared birds are retained for educational purposes. Spier offers four interactive falconry flying shows daily, as well as personal encounters and private viewings.

Stroll on the Werf or Around the Dam
Spier’s self-guided walks offer a chance for visitors to explore Spier’s history, encounter art pieces and learn about the farm’s sustainability ethos. The Heritage walk takes about 90 minutes and the river walk, about 30 minutes. Spier Art
The Spier Art Collection is one of the largest contemporary collections of South African art in the country. Works in a variety of mediums offer a richly diverse portrayal of a vibrant country in transition.
