Jazzart Dance Theatre presents four gripping performances that unpack the issue of forced removals and land restitution using raw emotion and a fusion of poetry and dance to expose the harsh reality of the lives that were shattered.

Zeitz MOCAA

ZEITZ MOCAA FREE OPENING WEEKEND

The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa opens its doors, free of charge, to the public during its grand opening on Heritage Weekend. Zeitz MOCAA is the first major museum of contemporary art in Africa, with over a hundred galleries filled with thousands of artworks from across the African continent.

Enchanted Cirque

ENCHANTED CIRQUE

The new international cirque production makes its way to Cape Town to bring audiences a theatre experience that merges some of the world’s finest entertainment artists with a top South African creative team. The show is hosted by local comedienne Mel Jones and Argentinian Pik Pokus and acts include crossbow contortionist and silk artist Orissa Kelly, cloud swing and hoop artist Tom McKinnon, laser and bubble magic man Thomas Favaro, a disco inspired roller skating pair, a knife throwing duo and more.

Tony GumTONY GUM SOLO EXHIBITION

The Christopher Moller Gallery presents Vogue International’s ‘Coolest Girl in Cape Town’ and “artist in learning” Tony Gum’s first solo exhibition, Ode to She. The body of work explores, encapsulates and celebrates the essence of what it means to be human, woman, and an African Xhosa Woman.

Open Book Festival

OPEN BOOK FESTIVAL 2017 

The Book Lounge and the Fugard Theatre present the annual literary festival, which focuses on South African literature in an international context. The festival includes over 150 literary events, featuring over 100 authors over 5 days. Although the events are spread across Cape Town and its surrounds, the hub of the festival takes place at the Fugard.

Eland Gray

ELAND GRAY AT ALEXANDER BAR

A showcase of South Africa’s “ground-breaking indie-acoustic musician” Eland Gray’s (aka Gary Thomas) new material after an 8 show run at The National Arts Festival. with a series of music he is currently writing for a new album. All audience members receive free digital downloads of all 5 of Gray’s albums after the show.

Road trip with Dizu Plaatjies

ROAD TRIP WITH DIZU PLAATJIES

The acclaimed musician takes audiences on a road trip from Cape Town to Homelands Emampondweni and back, as part of Artscape Theatre’s Heritage Month celebration. The road trip features artists with whom Plaatjies has worked with through the years, such as Madosini and Pops Mohamed, to showcase past and present works of his musical journey.

Cape Town Fringe FestivalCAPE TOWN FRINGE FESTIVAL 

The fourth annual festival presents a programme of “provocative, edgy, bold and innovative” works that represent the best of independent South African theatre. The 2017 edition takes on a new format, with 80 productions taking place over a three-week period in 14 independent theatre venues across the City. The programme includes productions across theatre, dance, music, comedy and illusion, with a range of genre-busting works in between.

Heavy Chef Magda Wierzycka

HEAVY CHEF: MAGDA WIERZYCKA

An entrepreneurial talk by the CEO of Sygnia, entitled A Story Of An Extraordinary Entrepreneur. Wierzycka talks about her journey from a Polish youngster arriving in South Africa, not being able to speak English, to becoming one of the continent’s most recognisable business leaders.

Uncorked Festival

FRANSCHHOEK UNCORKED FESTIVAL

The annual wine tasting event returns. Guests are given the opportunity to travel from farm to farm sampling wines from the Franschhoek vignerons, with entertainment ranging from live music to giant Jenga and Spanish-inspired entertainment.
