The Two Oceans Aquarium Ocean Encounter is a brand-new opportunity to get a lot closer with the animals of the I&J Ocean Exhibit. It allows guests to engage with the aquarium’s two rescue turtles, Bob and Sandy. The Ocean Encounter also includes a chance to put on a mask and snorkel and take a look at the short-tail stingrays, the man-faced black mussel cracker, the giant guitarfish and the nearly 200 other fish swimming around the large-scale exhibit.
The Two Oceans Aquarium in-house experts guide the Ocean Encounter. They share their knowledge and answer questions, before providing guests with a full snorkelling kit and wetsuit.
This experience is limited to three people at a time and since it takes place in a shallow area, guests do not need to be able to swim.
At the Two Oceans Aquarium, the wellbeing of the animals is the number-one priority. Therefore, the animals are not attracted with food and not forced to approach guests. However, it is likely that either Bob or Sandy will come for a scratch.
