Anyone who has been involved with the organisation of year-end events knows how important it is to find just the right setting to make sure the evening is remembered – the location’s atmosphere has a direct influence on how your guests feel, after all. From a historic 172-seat theatre to a luxury camping experience, to a “mini Kirstenbosch garden” and the well-known Two Oceans Aquarium, we have a list of unique venues, perfect for ending the year off in style.
44 ON LONG
The historic 172-seat theatre with a full-size screen is perfect for a conference, talk or presentation, or fabulous music, theatre or cinema event for the whole company. 44 on Long can provide entertainment from corporate speakers to comedians, baroque ensembles to burlesque dancers. How about some original jazz or singalong cinema? In addition to the theatre, 44 on Long offers a number of elegant wooden-floored, high-ceilinged rooms, which can be used for workshops, silent discos, dining, or lounging, as well as a long, sheltered balcony overlooking the heart of Cape Town.

Situated in the heart of the beautiful Elgin Valley, Cherry Glamping offers a custom, luxury tent experience. “Imagine sleeping on a comfortable and luxurious bed, cocooned in quality linen, with only the sound of the wind in the trees and the soft rustle of your canvas tent and its moorings, and you begin to get the idea.”
Cherry Glamping now has 2 camps; Dennebos consisting of 12 spacious and fully-furnished, permanently set up bell tents, and Bloekombos consisting of 21 bell tents. If needed, there are 25 additional fully-furnished tents to accommodate larger functions.
There’s also a communal lounge with a comfortable 24 seater table and fireplace, as well as a large, open-air, tent-covered deck for celebrations. Newly added is a large deck and 120 seater venue overlooking the Groenland mountains. Within the 35-hectare area, there are plenty of large open spaces for team-building and function activities.
A short distance from Cape Town, just outside Stellenbosch, lies Hazendal Wine Estate nestled against the Bottelary Hills. Combining Russian and South African traditions for a unique Winelands experience, the illustrious wine estate offers a variety of exquisite culinary, cultural and adventurous child-friendly experiences – including a children’s edutainment centre, toddler play area, an art gallery, beer garden, Russian tea garden, as well as a restaurant, deli, picnics, tapas and mountain biking park options.
Hazendal offers numerous options for corporate clients, ranging from diverse conference venues, state-of-the-art conference centre facilities, delectable menu choices and team-building activities to branded corporate gifts and bespoke merchandise.
For conferences, their culinary team will compile gourmet-style menus of delicious small bowl meals made from fresh ingredients for all kinds of dietary requirements, and various team-building exercises can be organised. Hazendal’s marketing team also assists with sourcing and supplying exclusively branded gifts for guests to take home.
For a daytime celebration, consider Little Stream. Situated on 7 acres of garden estate at the foothills of Constantia, it is ideal for small and intimate functions in an idyllic garden setting. The venue is nestled between two wine farms, and – because of its tranquil and picturesque surroundings – it has been nicknamed “a mini Kirstenbosch garden”.
Catering is provided by The Tea Garden/Cafe, featuring an artisan-style menu with timeless dishes reminiscent of childhood and home comforts, in an alfresco setting. The main conference room has a seating capacity for up to 50 people, and there are two breakaway rooms with a capacity for 25 people each.
Because The Estate is situated on eco-sustainable land, Little Stream has to abide by zoning by-laws as per city council. Operating hours are Tuesdays to Sundays, 9am to 4:30pm
