The Cape Gallery is set in the heart of the old city, flanked by colourful Georgian and Dutch facades built by the 18th and 19th century settlers. The space displays artworks that are of a traditional and conservative approach, depicting the land, flora and fauna of South Africa as well as more contemporary African works. The gallery houses various alternating exhibitions which showcase the country’s finest painters, ceramicists, sculptors and graphic artists.
