Ivanhoe Sea Safaris hosts the Walker Bay Whale Day Celebration in honour of the arrival of the migratory great whales back to Gansbaai shores.
The event includes Whale Watching Tours, a beach clean-up, environmental Art Display by Plastics are Forever, whale cookie and cupcake decorating and whale education – whale baleen, lice and skin on display, match the humpback whale tails, explantation of baleen filter-feeding and many educational posters.
Food stalls selling boerewors Rolls, Vetkoek, Raging Goose Coffee, Whale-themed biscuits and cupcakes are also available.
The Whale Day Celebration is a community initiative and all food sold on the day contributes to three charities doing work in the local community. The charities are BARC, the local animal shelter, Project SA who aim to fix up the community hall and the local old age home.
