Weekend Kids Activities at Norval

Norval Foundation hosts a range of artistic activities specially designed to entertain and educate children. From craft workshops to family tours, kids of all ages are invited to spend their weekends at Norval.

Friday 12 July

Kids Art Playdate: My First Museum Tour

Visitors are invited to discover our exhibitions and learn how to enhance children’s appreciation of art. Guests can join in on an educational art museum tour with Norval Foundation Education Co-ordinator Lindsay Hendricks.

The tour includes an educational resource for children to complete at home or in the galleries.

Suitable for ages 4 to 8 years old.

Time: 3pm to 4pm
Cost: Kids R30 | Parent and Child R200 (includes admission) | Members free

Saturday 21 July

Kids Art Course: David Goldblatt
Children can a tour of renowned photographer David Goldblatt’s On the Mines exhibition and create a collage based on his photographs, with the assistance of Norval Foundation Education Co-Ordinator Lindsay Hendricks.

Suitable for ages 4 to 8 years old.

Time: 10am to 11am
Cost: Kids R70 | Parent and child R220 (includes admission)

Kids Imaginative Drawing Class
Assistant Norval Foundation Curator and artist, Talia Naicker shows visitors the basics of figure drawing to bring their drawings to life, suitable for everyone from age 13 upwards.

Time: 11am to 12pm

Kids Art Course: Ibrahim Mahama
Children can learn about Ibrahim Mahama’s installation Labour of Many and participate in a hessian sewing activity with the assistance of Norval Foundation Education Co-Ordinator Lindsay Hendricks.

Suitable for ages 9 to 12 years old.

Time: 11am to 12pm

Sunday 21 July

Parents Guide to Visiting Museums
Norval Foundation Education Co-ordinator Lindsay Hendricks share tips on Introducing children to museums from an early age on a tour of the museum and galleries.

Saturday 26 July

Kids Tissue Paper Suncatcher Workshop
Visitors are invited to brighten up their windows by crafting suncatchers with tissue paper in the workshop. Suitable for ages 4 – 8.

Time: 3pm to 4pm
